March 1, 2013 – A contractor working on an electric transmission line project damaged the Authority’s 20-inch west Butts County transmission water main late in the afternoon of February 27, 2013. Crew members were able to repair the main break within two hours of discovery, but discolored water has been experienced by customers in various places throughout west Butts County as a result of the break. Authority staff has been actively flushing mains to get water to clear. The discolored water has remained safe to use and drink but is higher than normal in iron, manganese, and color.
