December 13, 2016 – The Authority has adopted a Drought Surcharge water rate that will only be implemented if a Level 3 Drought is declared by the State of Georgia. This was done to comply with the requirements of the Drought Management Rules of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
Under the Drought Surcharge rate, regular customers would pay a higher cost for any water used over 10,000 gallons in a month. Currently, the cost for water is $5.00 per 1000 gallons. Under a Level 3 Drought, water used over 10,000 gallons would be billed at $7.50 per 1000 gallons. The Drought Surcharge rate would not apply to industrial or municipal customers.
